What people have to say about ELS

YoYo Ahn Han, South Korea (studied at ELS in San Rafael, California)
Hello, my name is John (Yo Ahn) Han. Welcome to the ELS Language Center in Hayward! I am presently a Chabot College student. Two years ago, I was a student of ELS. I spent two sessions there. In about one and a half months, I learned so many English skills. Even though I already studied English in Korea, I did not know how to speak, listen, read and write very well. I also did not expect to learn English so quickly. In this language program, however, teachers provided various ways to approach learning English and they let us have a lot of opportunities to speak. I just followed what the teachers said. I was also on the honor roll for both sessions I was here. Can you believe it? After I graduated, I was ready to go to college. I cannot forget all of the teachers and staff. They were passionate about the students’ success. Not only did they teach us, but they also explained American culture in Cultural Interactions class and by giving us the opportunity to visit many places related to American culture. Even though I am not an ELS student anymore, I can still come to the office to study and they still help me with any questions that I might have. This is my last semester at Chabot College because I was accepted at SAIC-School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I was also accepted at Art Center College of Design and CCA-California College of the Arts. I was able to transfer to my dream art schools successfully with the help of the ELS language program. Here is the place where you can start your first step towards your great future!!

SungwoonSungwoon (Ryan) Choi, South Korea (studied at ELS in Ashland, Oregon)
I had been worried about learning English before I went to ELS in Ashland, Oregon. But now, I’m never worried about it al all. I can have a lot of opportunities to practice my English with Americans because ELS Center in Ashland is at the university. I have meals with Americans. I can use the library the same as SOU students. In addition, all the classes in ELS are nice, especially News Discussion, debating about recent news with coffee. It is very helpful in speaking and summarizing. I’m sure that it’s worth learning English at ELS Ashland.

Sung Joo LeeSun-Joo Lee, South Korea (studied at ELS in San Rafael, California)
Teachers in ELS San Rafael are friendly and kind when they are teaching. I hope I can have more time to meet teachers. And the people in the office are very kind to students. They always help students when they have some problems. They also try to help students to have conversation partners. I have fun with my partner. In the conversation partners pizza party that the office held, I can meet many Dominican students besides my conversation partner. I hope I can have more events through which I can meet Dominican students. That party was really fun!
